'The Return of Muchness' - painting and collage on cradled wood

$200.00

‘The Return of Muchness’ is a self portrait, an awareness and appreciation that all of the work I’ve been doing all of these years is working, and my muchness is happily returning. I last remember seeing my full muchness at age 6 or so, then it seemed it was dormant, returning in bits and pieces over the years.

Choosing to be an artist has been one of the defining choices in my life that has brought me my muchness back again. Thank you to me!

The title for this painting was inspired by something the Mad Hatter said to Alice: “‎You're not the same as you were before," he said. You were much more... muchier... you've lost your muchness.” — ‘Through the Looking Glass’ by Lewis Carroll.

Another inspiration for this piece is a photo of my mother from 1970 or so, when she started getting a bit groovy, a bit muchier. I was about 12 or 13, she was 32 or 33, and was ready to reinvent herself and her style. I remember that she did it pretty fearlessly, and it was fun to see her do this.

This painting is acrylic paint and collage on watercolor paper adhered to a cradled board. It measures 12” x 9” x 1.5”. It arrives ready to hang and needs no frame.

Shipping is free in the USA.
